Rackspace Senior Information Developer in Austin, Texas
Overview & Responsibilities
Rackspace is seeking a seasoned Senior Information Developer who will work with our software development and support teams to create customer documentation, and who will work with our Experience Design team to create a compelling user experience with Rackspace products. Researches and produces high quality technical content, communicating complex ideas in writing and using diagrams and images effectively to enhance information delivery. Collaborates with other writers, developers, support, quality engineers, designers, and product management to deliver fanatical service to our customers. Provides technical leadership and guidance to colleagues, uses growth experience to mentor developing colleagues, and participates in content-related communities outside of the organization
General duties and skills:
Utilize project tracking tools (for example JIRA, Github, etc) to capture requirements and deliverables
Peer review content produced by colleagues for typographical errors, grammar, plain language, parallelism, and ease of consumption.
Coordinate with SMEs as necessary to review submitted content for technical accuracy
Adheres to established content and collaborative authoring best practices
Working knowledge of the current content toolchain, content reuse, topic-based authoring, conditional content, and information architecture.
Learns to formulate new and alternate ideas, approaches, and designs.
Learns to be systematic and structured in problem-solving.
Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on content reuse and single-sourcing, and identify areas where this can be improved
Perform ramp up/on-boarding activities with these teams to support the collaborative authoring model
Good knowledge of the current content toolchain, content reuse, topic-based authoring, conditional content, and information architecture.
Advanced working knowledge of most technologies relevant to current assignment.
Demonstrates a systematic structured problem-solving approach.
Ability to generalize a specific problem and derive solution for a class of problems.
Adheres to established content and collaborative authoring best practices, and assists junior staff members to do so through ad-hoc coaching opportunities and feedback.
In-depth knowledge of the current content toolchain, content reuse, topic-based authoring, conditional content, and information architecture.
Advanced knowledge in multiple technologies relevant to current activities in the business unit.
Advanced English spelling and grammar skills, and a basic understanding of the mechanics of the English language
Basic understanding of procedure writing and documentation architecture
Bachelor's degree in a writing or computer science-related field
At the manager’s discretion, additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement
