The SharePoint Engineer provides technical support, technical consulting, and architectural guidance for Rackspace Hosting customers. Administrators have both direct (phone) and indirect (via email) contact with customers to assist in troubleshooting and maintaining both simple and complex SharePoint server-farm configurations. SharePoint Administrators have an extensive knowledge of SharePoint technologies, of Microsoft operating systems, and are able to handle over 90% of all customer issues that may arise.
Provide fanatical customer service at all times, delivered via phone and ticket based support.
Go above and beyond to solve any and all customer issues.
Customer service focus is a must. Proactively monitor customer trouble tickets.
Ensure that all tickets and phone calls are handled within appropriate service level agreement timeframes.
Installation and configuration of SharePoint farms Serve as an escalation point for lower level support technicians. Participate in rotating on-call schedule as a senior member of customer operations.
Level II – SharePoint Engineer:
Understands advanced SharePoint and collaboration server technologies. Knowledgeable in advanced troubleshooting techniques at the server and application level.
Understands high availability (HA) setups.
Experience with large-scale production collaboration systems, managing large SharePoint Farms.
Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, DNS and SQL.
Advanced level knowledge of SharePoint centric hardware deployment and data communications networks.
Advanced level knowledge of current SharePoint operational strategies including disaster recovery, performance tuning, replication, and design considerations.
Ownership of infrastructure build out and upgrade.
Recommends server configuration and high availability (HA) setups.
Reads and interprets monitoring stats and provides cause and solutions.
Becomes familiar with operational and support issues and takes ownership of process improvements.
Ability to interpret and write PowerShell scripts as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering related field or equivalent work experience, preferred.
MCITP certification or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge required.
Strong, extensive and relevant Sharepoint experience.
Able to read and understand SQL syntax.
Basic programming skills preferred.
Continued interested in developing and expanding technical knowledge.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Advanced verbal and written communications.
Able to present to internal customers.
Should have a strong desire to grow within the SharePoint product specialization.
