Overview & Responsibilities

We are looking to add a new member to our team to manage a team of 2-3 accountants and interns, in the accounting and analysis of our project accounting area. This individual will manage the daily, weekly and monthly processes performed by the team and work to gain a solid understanding of changes in the business in order to understand the impact to the financial statements. They will be responsible for reviewing the work, schedules, control assessments, and variances produced by their team. They will also be evaluating employee performance, mentoring our future leaders, hiring new members to the team and keeping up the overall work health of the team in balance. This position will have exposure to leaders in Accounting and to other Operational departments in the company.

Accounting Manager job duties:

  • Review journal entries, variance analytics, balance sheet account reconciliations, and control requirements.

  • Prepare and / or Review PBC schedules for both internal SEC reporting team and external auditors as well as ad hoc reports requested from our Financial Leaders

  • Review Project Charters, apply accounting principles and approve Capex/Opex components

  • Work with and assist Finance and Business Unit teams in preparation of annual/quarterly budgets and provide guidance on the accounting treatment of certain expenditures and purchases.

  • Work closely with Project Managers for Internally Developed Software (IDS) and Data Center/Office build out Project Managers to gain monthly progress status reports and to understand the existing business environments and how it could affect the projects in progress (WIP) in order to properly account for the projects.

  • Actively review related processes and procedures for consistency and improvement and if necessary collaborate with other impacted teams to implement.

  • Provide support to team to ensure deadlines are met (with high level of accuracy) in regards to Monthly close and all related processes, Control Compliance and SEC/Audit requests. This may involve performance of subordinates duties

  • Actively evaluate employee performance, work/life balance, and career aspirations to ensure employee stability and satisfaction. Perform Annual performance evaluations and recommendations for Meritincreases/Promotions.

  • Position requires work beyond a standard 8 hours day during the financial close and other occasions as necessary, potentially including weekends and holidays.


Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment that requires the management of multiple projects at one time.

  • Good working knowledge and understanding of accounting processes and required documentation (i.e. )

  • Experience with Excel, Sub-ledger and GL systems, Oracle and Oracle Projects Module a plus.

  • Strong Knowledge of GAAP.

  • Ability to mentor and train staff and provide tools to improve their work product

  • Excellent time management, decision-making, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Effective communicator; enjoys interacting and collaborating with team members and business partners.

  • Detail-oriented with an ability to critically analyze financial data and prepare financial reports.

  • Ability to create efficiencies or solutions for existing or unexpected situations.

  • Resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

  • Accounting or Finance degree required

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

  • Requires 7 plus years of related corporate or public accounting experience.

  • Requires 3 plus years of leadership responsibility

  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to provide Fanatical Support to internal business partners and direct report.
