The Network Security Manager will beresponsible for building and supporting a team of highly motivated individuals in their pursuit of excellence and will provide leadership for key network security functions such as Architecture, Escalations, Staffing/Hiring, Training, Development, as well as providing indirect leadership for Network Security staff residing in Customer Care teams.


  • Provides strategic leadership and direction for the delivery of support to customers.

  • Plans, directs and controls the development and assigning of work among teams and leads team staff, providing support, direction, and coaching.

  • Manages personnel activities of immediate staff (i.e., hires, mentors, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines, recommends termination as necessary).

  • Oversees team operations and reports to senior management.

  • Drives and establishes departmental standards and procedures.

  • Oversees adherence to policies and procedures.

  • Strategically analyzes systems, operational processes, and procedures and performs assessments to identify opportunities for improvements and value added to the customer/clients.

  • Uses professional concepts; applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex issues.

  • Monitor and maintain quality control standards.

  • Seeks out new strategic solutions in an effort to improve Rackspace performance.

  • Expected to think 12 - 18 months out strategically with an excellent understanding of the challenges and gaps while providing the necessary leadership by aligning with other leaders and by directing their immediate team to deliver and help achieve the strategic vision.

  • Serves as a primary liaison among various business groups within Rackspace, representing both the Department, as well as broader Rackspace goals.


We are hiring for a Network Security Manager to manage the 3rd shift team.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, MIS, Technology or Computer Science. At the manager’s discretion, experience may substitute for a degree.

  • Possesses a minimum of three to five years working knowledge of a technology based service oriented industry as a people manager/leader.

  • Minimum of two years experience in running medium to large scale projects with varying complexities.

  • Excellent organizational, leadership, decision making and communications skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of network security operations with a solid understanding of the technology.

  • Strong management and people skills with the ability to engage and motivate staff to drive results.

  • Ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups. Ability to provide FANATICAL support.
