Overview & Responsibilities

Manage the technical aspects across solution lines. Provide strategic and technical leadership on functional teams to manage products throughout the lifecycle. Oversee and perform development, and execution of various lab tasks—executing tests, building systems, troubleshooting, etc. Leads technical direction across multiple domains.

Requires expert technical knowledge in multiple areas, such as the IT industry, general technologies and operating systems, product development processes and business operations.

  • Expert of solution line technologies and multiple product domains.

  • Expert knowledge of the theory and application of technology principles in the Hosting industry.

  • Advanced technical knowledge of data centers and the IT industry. Advanced understanding of product design, testing and business challenges.

  • Advanced knowledge of the product development life cycle.

  • Creative ability to participate in problem solving andtroubleshooting. Ability to communicate technical info and ideas to non-technical audiences. Ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups. Strong knowledge of Rackspace internal operations and systems.

  • Ability to lead problem solving and troubleshooting activities and drive consensus in group meetings.

  • Ability to make appropriate decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.

  • Ability to provide FANATICAL support.

Qualifications

  • Lead the execution of tasks on multiple, cross-functional, complex projects. Manages and performs technical aspects of solution lines by writing test plans, executing tests, building systems, troubleshooting issues, and completing other technical tasks.

  • Oversees the creation of project documentation including qualification plans, issue lists, etc.

  • Resolves the most complex issues and oversees complex technical design and build activities of solution lines including evaluation testing, vendor recommendation and qualification planning.

  • Recommends and innovates new tests needed for new products. Confirms product meets stated design requirements.

  • Provides evaluation of new technologies and potential strategic impact to the organization.

  • Leads technology inputs to product line strategy and road maps.

  • Maintains current knowledge of technologies, evaluates and researches technologies to determine best solutions, placement, testing methodologies and implementation; influences technologies and new products in the hosting industry.

  • Provides input and evaluation to Product Manager on resource negotiation, workload management and scheduling.

  • Evaluates organizational processes and procedures and recommends improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Provides training on product deliverables.

  • Develops, mentors and coaches technical team members.

  • Acts as the highest level of technical escalation for other PEs.

  • Minimal supervision required. Provides training, development, coaching and supervision to individual contributors and team members. Reports to more senior DM or PD Management.

Rockstar Candidate:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and 8+ years work experience in Product Development, Product Engineering or Technology required.

  • Experience with all or most of the following; SEIM technologies, Intrusion Detection Systems, Web Application Firewalls, Encryption and Key Management, Anti-virus technologies, Vulnerability scanning/testing, Multi-factorAuthentication.

  • Certifications including CCSK, CEH, CISSP, GCIA, GCIH or similar preferred.
