Rackspace Digital is seeking an experienced Product Manager to join our growing team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about defining and influencing the next-generation of Rackspace Digital products. The position reports to the Director of Product Management and will be responsible for developing product strategy, aligning with the company’s overall goals, working on new product development and growing the business including gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate strategic leadership and tactical delivery of products while collaborating with sales, marketing, go-to-market partners and customers

  • Provide strategic contributions to the overall product line and define individual product roadmaps

  • Research competitive products and identify opportunities for differentiation

  • Develop market assessments and business cases for new offerings; research and create market/product requirements with prioritized features and corresponding justification

  • Set product pricing, distinguish the product’s unique characteristics, identify the proper market for the product

  • Ensure products are financially viable and understand the financial impact of product changes

  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities

  • Play a proactive role in product planning and design to ensure the product is differentiated from competitors in the marketplace

  • Build a rapport and work closely with senior architects and engineers via personas, epics, user stories, requirements, priorities and sprints

  • Support product launch readiness with engineering, sales, support, marketing, finance, legal, channel, procurement, PR and AR teams; ensure proper product naming, positioning, messaging, pricing, customer on-boarding, customer billing and delivery of collateral

  • Track product performance, conduct market research, and recommended changes to the product, the marketing plan and/or the overall product objective

  • Be an active user of the product (dashboard, API etc.) and provide samples and training to marketing, sales, support, partners and customers

  • Work closely with operations and support teams to ensure that their requirements are met so they can deliver a highly available and excellent customer experience

  • Be an on-going evangelist for your products and services


As a Product Manager, you are expected to:

  • Have considerable product management experience defining and launching products in the software industry

  • Have a technical background with technical experience so that you can understand and communicate highly technical requirements and product details

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership on products involving large cross-functional teams

  • Provide direction to other functional teams including those outside of the Digital practice

  • Be comfortable and experienced with influencing and negotiating for priorities with senior leadership as well as technical teams

  • Have experience in business development and/or strategic alliances

  • Provide input to functional teams on resource negotiations, managing workloads and setting schedules

  • Be a solid leader, excellent communicator and have a proven ability to lead effectively

  • Be a high energy self-starter with an innate ability to identify what’s needed and the leadership skills to motivate the extended team; must be able to resolve issues independently

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • BS in Computer Science or Engineering

  • MBA preferred and/or equivalent experience

  • Excellent understanding of business as it relates to the hosting and cloud computing industries

  • 5+ years experience developing and delivering Internet-based products; background in building products based on public cloud technologies in both Windows and Linux environments is highly desirable

  • 5+ years of software/web product management experience; cloud computing, hosting, ecommerce, web content management and/or web site experience is a highly desirable.

  • Complete knowledge and experience working all aspects of the product development lifecycle including experience with market/product strategy and planning

  • Proven ability to communicate clearly with technical teams, senior leadership, other internal constituents, customers and partners

  • A methodical and analytical approach mixed with an execution-focused drive to “get it done”
