As a Linux Enterprise Support Engineer , you're a Linux guru who conquers the most intricate challenges by providing innovative and unique solutions for our customers. As a Linux guru, you'll demonstrate Fanatical Support® by owning complex customer issues which may take several days or weeks to resolve, which also means you’ll be a key partner in building relationships with customers as you advise them of any pitfalls and alternatives that may better serve their solutions along the way. We don’t want you to just think outside of the box; we want you to break it.
This position is based in San Antonio, TX, although, consideration will be given for exceptional remote candidates.
In this role you will:
Support our largest Enterprise clients, ensuring their complex infrastructures stay up and running 24/7 while working with bleeding-edge technology
Define, Design, Implement, and Support complex network communications infrastructures
Install, Configure, Update, Support, and Troubleshoot services for customers such as:
LAMP Stack: Linux (RedHat), Apache, MySQL, PHP
Virtualization - VMWare
Storage Technology: SAN, NAS, DAS, NetApp
Scripting: Perl, Shell, Bash, PHP, etc.
OS level concerns
Database Servers (MySQL)
Mail (Mail Transfer Agents)
Teach customers “how to fish” by advising on technical issues; this includes designing and implementing solutions to meet business needs, including advanced software and hardware updates, that will improve the performance and reliability of the system
Needs to be located in the New York/New Jersey area.
Thorough knowledge and love of Linux operating system (RedHat, Debian, Ubuntu, etc.). As a true Linux lover knows—Fatal Error: Found MS-Windows System -> Repartitioning Disk for Linux
Advanced/Expert knowledge of servers/computers hardware and software, DNS, and networking fundamentals (Cisco) including diagnostics with Linux tools
Strong experience with LAMP: Linux (RedHat), Apache, MySQL, and PHP
Strong experience with Storage Technology such as NFS Server, RAID Levels, SAN, NAS, DAS, NetApp, etc.
Experience Architecting and Designing complex enterprise level infrastructures
Requires approximately 5+ years working in a computer technical field, 3+ years in an enterprise server environment and 2+ years in web hosting environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical and technical audiences
Inherent problem-solver with desire to learn and take on responsibilities
Due to the 24x7 operations of the business, Engineers will be required to provide on-call coverage overnight and on weekends and holidays
Guru (Preferred) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience
Technical certification including Linux+, RHCSA, RHCA, and RHCE strongly preferred
