Overview & Responsibilities
Rackspace is seeking a Big Data Delivery Engineer to join our Professional Services team full time in San Antonio or REMOTE Work from Home for exceptional candidates.
What You’ll Do:
Apply Big Data product and technical knowledge during professional services engagements leading customers through big data transformation across multiple private and public cloud platforms.
Operate as a lead delivery engineer as part of a professional services delivery team working closely with project managers and client’s technical personnel.
Demonstrate strong competency across modern data technologies and cloud platforms to design, implement, troubleshoot and optimize advanced solutions.
Participate in projects including: Open source technologies; Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, HBase, Hive, Cassandra, MongoDB, Neo4J. Experience in both batch and stream processing technologies.
Cloud data and analytic technologies; AWS: EMR, Athena, Redshift, Kinesis, Glue. Azure: HDInsight, ADLS, Data Lake Analytics, Event Hubs, SQL Data Warehouse. GCP: BigQuery, BigTable, Dataflow, DataProc.
Serve as a subject matter expert for Big Data products or technologies to implement solutions as defined by statements of work.
Understand complex IT and business customer challenges as it pertains to the data domain and apply technology and product portfolio knowledge to solve problems in a consultative manner.
Aligns and regularly communicates with Project Manager and extended teams during project delivery to ensure timely delivery and awareness of potential problems or risk requiring resolution or mitigation.
Proactively identify potential issues and work through resolution with internal and external stakeholders.
Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis and performance tuning. Monitor, log and test customer configurations for performance and stability.
Perpetually seek to improve and refine the Rackspace Professional Services methodology, deliverables, sales collateral, and team roles and alignment.
Build and maintain a network of cross-functional technical resources within Rackspace and across any relative partnerships to allow for higher productivity, increased business, and rapid resolution of problems and escalations.
Serve as a lead to other engineers. Develop and implement best practices for team processes.
Occasional domestic travel, up to 50%.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in technical field preferred.
7 - 9 years of relevant technical experience required, including a minimum of 4 years of engineering experience related to Big Data.
Exposure to a range of IT environments, industry sectors & technology stacks.
At least one top tier technical certifications in a highly desired technology domain.
Managed services, consulting, technical support, and/or application development experience preferred.
Preferred experience with the following Open Source technologies:
Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, HBase, Hive
Cassandra, MongoDB, Neo4j
Experience in both batch and stream processing technologies
Preferred experience with the following Cloud Data and Analytics technologies:
AWS – EMR, Athena, Redshift, Kinesis, Glue
Azure – HDInsight, ADLS, Data Lake Analytics, Event Hubs, SQL Data Warehouse
GCP – BigQuery, BigTable, Dataflow, DataProc
Preferred experience with:
Machine Learning experience with either Spark Mllib or similar
Experience operationalizing models with Tensorflow
