Software Development Manager – Managed Google Cloud

As a Software Development Manager, you’ll lead a small software development team responsible for the product design of product lines within the growing Managed Google Cloud business at Rackspace. You’ll always be a step ahead in cloud technologies with your talented team of passionate software developers and Google Cloud partnership.

You will have the ability to make an important impact within a growing area at Rackspace. You’ll recommend efficient ways to produce new products while evaluating progress and results of previous development efforts. This role has tremendous growth potential!

Since we are a distributed team we are open to the Rackspace location of your choice, including the option to work from home. Rackspace office locations include San Antonio or Austin, TX and Blacksburg, VA.

  • Organizes project through development of a Project Plan.

  • Ensures projects are completed according to product specifications and are properly documented.

  • Product architecture and implementation is maintainable and extendible to accommodate future development and maintenance (architecture documentation and architecture design review).

  • Ensures that: a) Documentation gets appropriate level of technical review support b) QA test plans meet the project requirements c) Appropriate development and corporate methods and procedures are followed.

  • Manages personnel activities of staff (i.e., hires, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines, recommends termination, as necessary).


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Software Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited institution required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Requires a minimum of 10 years of technical experience in software development, including 3 years of project leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated success in leading software product development projects of significant scope at an enterprise level.
