PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: The Associate Project Manager’s primary responsibility is to deliver defined concurrent work packages and small or low risk projects that produce the required products, to the required standard of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost for the customer. The projects are typically of minimum to moderate complexity and have limited risk exposure. Responsible for the project producing a result which is capable of achieving the benefits defined in the Statement of Work

PROFESSIONAL SERVICE'S MISSION STATEMENT: Provide the expertise needed to address the end to end customer journey by transforming, migrating and optimizing workloads in a multi-cloud world, fully leveraging Racker-delivered and/or Partner-Enabled Services.

  • JOB COMPLEXITY: Defines project scope, goals and deliverables in accordance with Statement of Work and in collaboration with senior Project member and stakeholders. Leads key resources, driving accountability in the delivery of the work package or project stage in partnership with the customer and Business Unit to ensure acceptance, project close out and transition. Defines the work package or project stage requirements and manages the agreement process of requirements and objectives. Updates the project schedule and communicates changes in baseline to required parties using appropriate tools and templates. Produces and coordinates materials and baselines during all phases of the work package or project stage by careful planning and produces key documentation. Adheres to the Change Control (CC) and Configuration Management process for the deliverables of the project against agreed plans. Assesses and manages project variances (e.g. schedule variance); evaluate impacts to overall project commitments, evaluates and presents options, and implements approved changes. Manages work package or project stage risks and produces an effective plan and risk assessment so that timelines and costs are understood and underwritten by all by the parties. Ensures that formal review procedures are used. Manages the risks associated with the deliverables. Builds and manages relationships with key stakeholders (customers, subcontractors and Rackspace), typically at project level. Manages internal and customer stakeholder expectations. Creates project budget and gains approval. Tracks the project costs and supports team in meeting payment milestones. Accurately plans and updates resource utilization for projects. Escalates any conflicting resource requirements that may affect the delivery outcome. Timely requests additional resources when required. Utilizes Rackspace recommended vendors and partners where appropriate for the project. Understands key clauses in the contract that will determine the direction and approach of the project. Understands the key risks involved with the project becoming legally compromised. Identifies opportunities for follow on projects and relays to senior management.

  • SUPERVISION: Receives clear direction on work duties and tasks with detailed instruction on new activities. Follows standard processes and procedures to perform clearly defined duties.

Qualifications

  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Business or a related field required. 2 years of professional experience in project management required. Demonstrated experience in planning and schedule management required. Knowledge of project management principles/theories/framework required. High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: General office environment. May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor. Moderate levels of stress may occur at times. No special physical demands required. Occasional domestic travel, 10-25%
