Rackspace is looking for a Project Manager III (PMO) to join our team. As a PMO Project Manager III, you will be responsible for medium to large sized projects, often of varying scope, high complexity and non-contained risk where projects may be concurrent or overlap. Own change management throughout the lifecycle of the project. Drive change control process post plan of record.

This position is based in San Antonio, Texas.
In this role you will:
Focus on the continuous improvement of project management practices.
Be an experience professional using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues using project management to improve products or services for internal/external customers.
Work independently, receiving minimal guidance, only general direction from manager, then determine best approach to accomplish work.
Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Be proficient in project management systems, tools and industry best practices for project management.
Support continous improvement of project management methodologies.
Effectively define and communicate customer requirements to project team.
Demonstrate strong written communication in reports and documentation with minimal input from the Senior PMs/PgMs.
Provide clear instructions to subject matter experts to complete deliverables.
Confidently influence and liaise with all levels including senior business stakeholders, technical teams, and third party suppliers.
Supplements business' ability to identify interdependencies and think holistically.
Network with key contacts internal and external to the specialty area.
Dynamically adjust approach with others to gain buy-in.
Achieve goals by enhancing trust and cooperation.
Actively identify stakeholder objectives and pain points.
Identify ways to recognize and reward teams for their accomplishments.
Choose the appropriate team members to influence specific stakeholders.
Be viewed as a trusted advisor to leaders within Rackspace.
Utilize data to provide a point of view and recommendations.
Articulates the problem in terms of the business case that project is attempting to solve.
Prioritises risks, issues and problems that occur within a project.
Captures project teams' mitigation plan for known issues and risks. Escalates risks and issues with proposed mitigations, resource needs and time-frames to sponsors and champions.
Demonstrates good judgment in helping the project team select methods and techniques for obtaining solutions as needed.
Basic Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related comparable experience required.
MBA or related graduate degree preferred.
Requires 5+ years of Project Management including a minimum of 3 years of management and leadership experience in a structured Program Managment Office.
Experience building out and leading a successful program management team.
Experience applying industry-recognized project management methodology and tools.
Project certification, such as PMP, Six Sigma, Lean Process, etc.
OpenStack experience preferred.
PMP, PRINCE2 certification or equivalent.
Be an actively developing subject matter expert and has begun coaching and mentoring other PMs and the business.
High level of knowledge of all areas of business operations and organizational interactions.
