Rackspace is looking for a senior revenue accountant to join our team. Rackspace is a global organization and is looking for a highly motivated professional for this role. This individual should be organized, have strong analytical skills, be personable, work well under pressure, multi-task, detail oriented, deadline driven, and adapt to the fast-paced environment.
Senior Accountant Job Duties:
Accurately perform monthly close activities including recording journal entries, reconciling complex ledger accounts, producing supporting schedules, analyze and clearly explain financial results and variances, and other monthly end tasks as assigned.
Support the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures and financial reporting requirements including performing complex general ledger account reconciliations and variance analysis.
Working closely with cross functional teams to provide accounting guidance to ensure proper revenue accounting treatment.
Working through accounting implications and determining how to support business operationally.
Involve with new product launches to provide impacts to general ledger and revenue recognition.
Assists in the preparation of external and internal reporting documents including financial schedules, audit schedules, and ad hoc report.
Heavy interaction with external auditors to address inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls.
Thoroughly understand, document, and maintain desktop procedures. Identify process improvements to further streamline revenue accounting process.
Participate in user acceptance testing.
Extensive involvement with the implementation of new accounting standard (ASC 606).
Work extended hours during critical time of month.

Ability to analyze and communicate financial information.
Extensive knowledge of GAAP.

Ability to communicate financial information and ideas so others will understand.
Ability to apply varying leadership skills and traits that create solutions and results to unexpected situations.
Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
Master's degree preferred.
Big 4 experience preferred.
Intermediate to advance Excel skills.
Typically requires 7+ years of professional accounting experience.
ERP experience a plus.
CPA or equivalent preferred.
