Overview & Responsibilities
SOX Intern I
We are looking for a Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Intern to join our Rackspace team and gain Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance experience. This position requires excellent communication skills and knowledge of finance, accounting operations, IT General Controls (Change Management, Security and Authorization). The intern is primarily responsible for assisting the SOX team with control change requests, periodic testing, remediation follow up and maintaining our Sharepoint site.
Assist with maintaining SOX SharePoint site
Assist with preparing testing templates of Financial controls
Assist with the PBC status tracking and follow-up
Assist with follow-up for KPMG inquiries/requests (i.e. obtaining control documentation, substantive testing samples)
Assist with the control change requests, periodic testing and remediation follow-up
Assist with the standardization of the RCMs (Risk and Control Matrices)
And additional tasks as they arise
JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on projects of a limited scope. Under the direct guidance of a supervisor, follows Rackspace accounting policies and GAAP guidance. Ability to carry out assignments effectively, accurately, and efficiently. May also be asked to provide support to special projects as needed.
SUPERVISION: Operates under close supervision, with review of completed assignments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: General office environment. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE: Basic knowledge of accounting principles, business processes, IT General controls (Change Management, Security and Authorization). Good time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, and organizational skills. Works well in a team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and SharePoint. Experience with Oracle or other accounting software is a plus.
EXPERIENCE: Position targeted towards college students pursuing Master’s degree in finance or accounting. Experience with concepts of audit, accounting, and financial reporting is preferred. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
